7. Charlie Chaplin was born in London, England in 1889. Both of his parents were actors, but his family was very poor. In 1911 he went to California to look for work as a movie actor. By 1914, Chaplin was the most famous actor in America. He worked very hard, and made 62 movies in four years. In 1919, he started his own film company.
