Since I watched the propaganda films of Yale University and Peking University,a heated debate nowadays have been aroused on the Internet.Some students regard the promo of Peking University as a sleepy buildings,and others consider low of the promo of Yale University.What excited me most is what are the differences and what are reasons for the difference?Based on my view,the differences are likely to the different kinds of culture.However,this article explores the differences and the reasons for the difference from cultural perspective.
The different beginnings present a contrast information of this two top universities.The promo of Peking University begins with a blazing match,illuminating all the room.However,the promo of Yale University begins with a session which is presided by a black teacher.Peking University shows the specific blueprint through light and shadow,and there is no dialog and conversation in it.Yale University presents a dynamic images with guided tour and activities.As to the different styles of exhibition,distinct cultural environments lead to this result.It is known to all that China is a typical country with indirect and implicit culture because The cultural habits of most people in this country are not made explicit from year to year.The United States is a melting pot.Cultural beliefs and behavior need to be expressed directly so that the transfer of information is most important.
The different purpose and focuses may be related to the different
activity orientation culture.Yale University aims to attract students.The purpose of Peking University is to show the inheritance of knowledge and responsibility.Yale University focuses on campus life and students ’ activities.On contrast,Peking University focuses on campus history and campus development.We felt beauty of artistic conception and poem world,and the growth of the university from a small building to a top one is great.Chinese culture stress the opinion of history and inheritance of spirit.American culture are action oriented and Many Americans can't keep quiet to think,consequently,they hold the idea that life is dynamic. Both of them need to be improved to suit the needs of the public.The promo of Peking University is so implicit that content is hard to be understood.Yale University promo is a commercial and lacks cultural background.With the continuous development of economic globalization, the communication between each other becomes very important. For university propaganda,it represents the image of a university.Therefore, a promo which is attractive to all around the world is sorely in need.Undoubtedly
may create a perfect promo. the combination of the two merits
