THYOSIL IM76 is a DMEA (Dimethyilaminoethanol) neutralized resin solution. THYOSIL IM76是DMEA (二甲基乙醇胺)中和的树脂溶液。
THYOSIL IM76 was specially developed for producing high resistance waterborne industrial enamels when it is formulated with monomeric melamine resins.

Application 应用
Enamels based on THYOSIL IM76 solutions may be easily sprayed. They atomize finely and without sagging.
The enamels formulated on base of THYOSIL IM76, show similar properties to those obtained with solvent-borne systems and match or surpass those of other water reducible coatings made with high levels of co-solvents.
Additionally, enamels made with THYOSIL IM76 solutions, exhibit less sensitivity to variations in the environment conditions (temperature/relative humidity).

a) Load water and THYOSIL IM76 into Cowles and stir at low speed. 将水和IM76加入釜中并低速搅拌

Application Test 应用测试
1. Moisture content of wood should be less than 2%. The wood was dried in a oven at 212°F. 木材水分应当低于 2% ,木材应当在100’C 的烘箱中干燥。
2. Once the MDF is fully dried, apply 1 layer by spray. 板材干燥后喷涂一遍 3. It is dried in oven for 5 minutes at 122 ° F. 在50’C 的烘箱中干燥5分钟 4. Finally, it is cured for 30 minutes at 300 ° F.最后再在150’C 的烘箱里固化30分钟 5. A minimum of two layers is suggested. 建议至少涂2遍。

Enamels based on THYOSIL IM76/melamine blends offer a unique stability advantage, even when catalyzed, over aqueous alkyd/melamine systems. Care should be taken just to select with monomeric melamines. Polymeric types that were evaluated gave hard, brittle films with poor resistance properties.

Enamels made with THYOSIL IM76 do not require external thickeners for viscosity control. Upward viscosity adjustments can be made easily and with quick equilibration by adding a dilute solution of DMAE. They should be adjusted to a desired viscosity rather than to a given pH, because very small changes in pH can mean substantial changes in viscosity.

» Coalescent: Even at low levels of co-solvent, THYOSIL IM76 provides excellent substrate wetting without foam while adequately meeting antipollution requirements.
The co-solvents contained in the suggested formulations are n-butanol and 2-butoxyethanol and dipropylene glycol, although other exempt solvents are also compatible.

» Defoamer: The use of n-butanol provides adequate defoaming. Formulators are encouraged to test other commercial defoamers for alternate choices.

» Catalyst: p-Toluenesulfonic acid (pTSA) catalyzes the crosslinking reaction between THYOSIL IM76 polymer and the monomeric melamine resin. When added to the formulation at a level of 0.2 percent on binder solids, pTSA promotes complete cure in a 30-minute bake at 300°F.
Faster bake schedules suggested for complete cure are 15 minutes at 325°F, 10 minutes at 350°F, and 5 minutes at 375°F.
pTSA is added to the formulation as a solution in water after it is combined with equal parts of DMAE. The addition of pTSA as a DMAE salt overcomes a common problem in water-borne enamels. It prevents the flocculation and kickout that can occur if the catalyst is added in the acid form. It also lends exceptional stability to the wet formulation.
